Alder L. (Al) Moore
Al. Moore was born in Arkansas, grew up in California and attended the University of California, Berkeley where he majored in Chemical Engineering, and audited courses in the arts. He also studied jewelry making for 3 years under Robert Winston, of the California College of Arts & Crafts, a nationally known jewelry maker and sculptor during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
Al has worked in the Insurance industry, Medical and Dental related non-profit organizations, Restaurant industry, Computer Software industry and Commercial Agriculture, all the while doing art on the side. Retiring from commerce in 1999, he is currently pursuing his interests in the arts both as a collector and as a sculptor.
A member of the Texas Sculpture Association, he works in wood, clay and stone. His recent works, predominantly in stone, are mostly representational, have a strong organic component and have recently won prizes in both local and internationally juried shows
